Tenants do have to provide their own linen and bedding.  Full inventories will be provided at start of lease.

Prior to arranging a viewing of a  property  (our viewing are all by appointment only and are accompanied by HMJ staff) please ensure your whole group, on joint applications, are aware of lease dates, property location and rental prior to viewing.

Information can be given on initial phone call to help you ascertain whether the property is suited to you.

All applicants must provide the following, along with one of our application forms, which are available by emailing the office.

Applicants are required to provide: -

  1. Photographic ID (copy of passport and any relevant visas).  HMJ also need to see all passports and Visas when the lease is being signed.
  2. Recent landlord/letting agent reference. They must also contain a full address of landlord and a contact phone number; (unless you are a current HMJ Tenant)
  3. Copy of Matriculation Card from current university
  4. Proof of study.  letter from university confirming student status; This must be letter from ‘University Registrar Department’ (registry@st-andrews.ac.uk  tel:01334 463097) confirming that you have accepted a place of study for the  whole period of occupation.
  5. Reference from someone that has know you for at least 2 years ie.  tutor/academic person/church/professional body/previous employer – stating information re good character and ability to behave responsibly. (unless your are a current HMJ Tenant)
  6. Where appropriate for students funded/paid by an organisation or government, evidence of paid income or funding for living expenses.
  7. Guarantors are required on all properties – Again our office will issue specific information on this process.
